The quality of life is better Japan is ok but it is very expensive and also very competitive for the few jobs still remaining after the major "layoff" (when a certain language school shut it''s doors. South Korea is more affordable and the free housing is better.

Definately NOT! It used to be the better place to work however now everyone and their brother has moved to South Korea to teach English. The market is saturated with English teachers. Now there are too many people willing to work for peanuts and because of this, the economy, and private teaching crackdowns there aren''t many good jobs. Also to get the good jobs they want you to be married to a Korean and have F2 status. Friends who worked in Japan couldn''t save as much money but didn''t have contract disputes every month, this is the reality of life in Korea. People who work in Japan learn the language and want to be there. In Korea it''s about money and the money isn''t there anymore. In a language school or even a university a contract is worth nothing more then the paper it was printed on.
