ESL TEACHERS REQUIRED FOR INDEPENDENT LANGUAGE SCHOOLS IN LOJA AND MACHALA - ECUADOR
LOJA START DATES: FEBRUARY

Employer: Canadian House Center - Independent Language School in Loja, and Machala, Ecuador
Wage: $320 monthly minimum. Average national wage is $100-$150
Air ticket: Not included but help could be given to purchase initially but this would need to be repaid back to the school during the first term.
Accommodation: School apartments $70 monthly + $70 deposit (approx)
Hours per week: Minimum 4 hours a day which includes lesson planning time
Work days: Five days per week and Saturday rotation
Overtime: Opportunity for additional work through private tuition and Saturday.
Holidays (days and dates): Negotiable
Sick Days: 2 per 6 month contract, 4 per 1 year
Health Insurance: Not provided but can be arranged
Class size: Varies – maximum 20
Class Age: All ages – children from 4; adolescents and adults. In some cases you may find yourselves teaching at additional private institutes.
Colleagues: English, American, Australian, Irish, and Canadian etc. No native teachers
Teaching task: Grammar, oral and listening English as well as partaking in all aspects and activities at the school, including culture days and events, supervision in end of year exams and administrative and organizational duties. All text and grammar books are provided. It is an easy to follow system.
Orientation course: Workshop to go over books, lesson planning and school rules. There is a buddy system to help out new teachers with experienced teachers.
Social events: Integration events with students and other teachers
Age of applicants: 24 to 50.
Education background: TESOL/TEFL/CELTA Certificate. Degree preferable but not necessary.
Language: Basic Spanish – not necessary but useful
Contract time: Ideally 1 year but 6 months would be considered
