The Chicago Teaching Fellows program is calling on outstanding individuals to become teachers in Chicago Public Schools and positively impact the academic achievement of our city’s children. Chicago Teaching Fellows focuses on recruiting a diverse group of successful professionals and recent college graduates who will use their knowledge, experience and records of achievement to positively change the lives of students in Chicago. No previous experience or coursework in education is necessary to apply.
After intensive preparation during the summer and once securing a teaching position with a Chicago Public School, Chicago Teaching Fellows teach in the fall of 2010 while pursuing their initial Illinois teaching certificate.
Benefits of the program include:
• A streamlined application and selection process
• A fast-paced, thoroughly comprehensive and intense pre-service training program
• The opportunity to join a cohort of other like-minded professionals all dedicated and committed to improving our city’s public schools
• A pathway to earn your teaching certificate while making a direct impact on student achievement as a teacher
Individuals interested in teaching math, science, special education or bilingual education are encouraged to apply. A bachelor’s degree is required.
