ACTIVE ENGLISH ACADEMY currently has positions open for individual teachers as well as couples with a passion for teaching and living close to nature. Our school is located in Iwate Prefecture, in the northeastern part of the main island of Honshu. The Iwate landscape boasts some of the best mountain as well as coastal views in the country. The nearest ski resort is only 40 minutes away and only an hour and a half will get you to the sea. ACTIVE first opened in 1992. We have been serving the communities in 4 cities for about 2 decades! Our clients include public kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high school and a prefectural college. We also have our own private English conversation schools as well as the first and only international kindergarten in Morioka, the capital city of Iwate.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. University degree (preference for Early Childhood or other Ed. degrees)

2. Native English speaker

3. Confident, energetic, bubbly and good conversationalists with

a great sense of humor

4. Have good people skills (including a great smile) and problem-solving skills

5. Enjoy the challenges of living and working independently in a multi-cultural environment

6. Enjoy the challenges of working in a variety of settings teaching both children and adults.

7. Must love children

8. Possess a strong work ethic: Conscientious, hardworking, punctual, honest, loyal and dedicated. Have tons of creativity and initiative.

9. Have some teaching experience

10. Prefer the tranquility of the suburban lifestyle with getaways to the big cities while staying close to nature and all the great things it offers!

THE JOB:

1.ENGLISH CONVERSATION TEACHERS AND AN INTERNATIONAL KINDERGARTEN TEACHER.

2. COMMENCES: MARCH/APRIL 2010 AND JUNE/JULY 2010.

3. Teaching hours average between 24 to 30 hours per week.

4. For teachers who love the variety of teaching in a great mix of settings from kindergartens and public elementary schools to private language classes. Also for those who would like the challenge of being teacher / manager (with the help of Japanese assistants ) of an English conversation school or an international kindergarten (English-, Western-based curriculum).Great opportunity to meet people of all ages and never a dull moment!

3. Allows teachers the freedom to exercise their own creativity by creating supplementary materials if they so wish to complement the curriculum and textbooks we use.
