Global English School is accepting applications for a full-time 1-year teaching position that starts in April, 2010. Teaching starts on the 6th of April, however, we require the successful applicant to start work on the 23rd of March for orientation and training. We are looking for someone who is energetic, reliable and really loves teaching children.
We teach English conversation to students of all ages, with the majority between the ages of 2 to 12 years old. We teach using a special program called "PLS system" (Pacific Language School system), which uses flash cards and listening homework activities. The system emphasizes oral as well as aural communication skills through games and activities that are both fun and educational. We also have a unique course called "World Studies" which is for students in junior and senior high school. This course is designed to teach global issues apart from English so as to broaden knowledge, attitude, and skills in becoming global citizens.
We currently have 4 foreign teachers and a helpful group of Japanese staff (all of whom have overseas experience and speak English). Global English School has 3 locations, which are in Matsusaka, Ise and Tsu. These countryside cities in Mie prefecture are about an hour south of Nagoya and about 90 minutes east of Osaka. Each city has a population of between 120,000 to 160,000. The advantages of living in the countryside are clear: instead of the hustle and bustle of large cities, you find sweeping rice fields and breathtaking mountains; instead of the outrageous prices and living conditions of large cities, you find a reasonable and relaxed lifestyle. If you love to teach children and enjoy a mellow lifestyle, this is the place for you.
