Job Description

Join Talks Club and the exciting world of live online conversational English teaching! If you enjoy working with children, have a reliable/fast computer and Internet connection, you can start teaching from home! Online teaching is the wave of the future, and our company is working hard to provide S. Korean students a great way to practice American English over the Internet.

We are looking for young, energetic native English speakers/teachers (preferably Americans living in America) who have a great speaking voice and can hold conversations easily with students of all ages. We provide the speaking component of our students’ comprehensive English curriculum. We model correct speech while sharing files, images and Internet pages over our state-of-the-art classroom software. Most of our classes are one-on-one.

Teaching experience is a plus but not necessary.

College degree strongly preferred.

Enthusiasm, clear enunciation, good pronunciation and grammar needed

Early morning availability at our peak times (6-10am EST) also some afternoons (We’d like to hire teachers on East Coast or Central time to fit these peak hours)

Be reliable and dedicated

Experience using the Internet and familiarity with your computer

Broadband Connection

Web Cam/Headset

PC (NO MACS, sorry) with at least 1 GB of RAM and be able to run Internet Explorer (unfortunately we ARE limited to this at the moment)

Compensation: $6.25/25 minutes (this is a competitive international rate) classes are usually either 25 or 50 minutes. You will be placed with individual students and work with them continuously. Many students have classes several days a week, so it’s easy to get to know your students and make a real connection. We are looking for teachers who want to teach the same students for at least a few months

If you feel you fit these qualifications, we’d love to have you on board! Please respond to this ad (or email Ben at: talksclub@gmail.com) with your resume and headshot to be considered for a position today!

When considering where in the world you want to teach English, the big 3 for ESL/EFL/TEFL jobs are:

Asia: Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia are the popular spots because they have so many ESL/EFL/TEFL jobs available. In addition, there are always positions coming up infrequently in places like Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia though you must be a qualified teacher to obtain these. You may even find positions for Cambodia and Laos but you should look at the reputation of ESL/EFL/TEFL schools carefully due to lack of a solid legal system for recourse.

Europe: Everyone dreams of teaching English in Greece, Italy, France or Spain but unless you are an European Union (EU) citizen it is difficult to obtain these teaching positions. The more frequent ESL/EFL/TEFL jobs are available in Eastern Europe in places like Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine and Russia. These positions don\'t pay very well by western standards but they provide a lot of opportunity for travel while not teaching.

The Middle East: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the most common with Bahrain, Yemen and Qatar occasionally having ESL/EFL/TEFL job openings. Now there are also more teaching positions available in Iraq. The Middle East is popular for the money paid for teaching positions but don\'t expect much of a social life due to cultural restraints.
