Introduction:

I am a retired IBM Software Engineer working in the UK. As part of my career, I managed a team of young Software Engineers in the IBM Beijing Lab.  I am VERY skilled in remote communication with Chinese people - and speak a little Mandarin (my third tone is improving from completely unrecognisable to merely terrible!). I have travelled in both mainland China and Chinese Taipai/Taiwan and appreciate the Chinese culture.

In addition to all the technical conversation in English, I also hosted sessions in English with my team. This was both to improve their communication skills in an international company, but also extend vocabulary and familiarise themselves with advanced concepts like english ways of thinking and the way business is performed.

I live in a part of the world where lots of Chinese Language Students are learning English. It is nice to surprise them my talking a little Mandarin, and encouraging them to talk a bit more English than their language schools teach.

I am looking to help youing Chinese people gain experience in English to further their careers. We would talk one-to-one once a week in either the afternoon or evening (China time) over Skype, MSN or  Ubuntu. My charge would be around 200RMB a hour, payable via Paypal. The first two sessions would be free as we explore how best to proceed.

Summary of Qualifications:

I do not have any formal English Language qualifications - I am not a Teacher! Merely a person who has excellent remote conversational skills and knows how to interact with Chinese people. English grammer is a complex thing - some English teachers I know aer not sufficiently familir with it to know what is a Gerund and how to abuse it.

My degrees are at the leading UK Unversities in technical areas. As an ex-IBM Software Engineer, I was responsible for both Remote Team Leading (with part of my Team being in Beijing) and Development of a major IBM software product (called CICS) which is used in China. Everytime you take out cash from an ATM machine - a bit of me is probably giving you the money! You can see something of my past on my dfhexpert.website at .http://dfhexpert.cn.

If you would enjoy having your English skills extended, and conversing in areas that  formal language courses lack - please get in touch.

In terms of one of the more famous errors of grammer (a split infinitive): Let's Boldly Go together!
