I was born in Costa Rica in 1962 and I have lived in New York since 1969. I was born in Santa Marta, Buenos Aires, Costa Rica and I am a member of the indigenous Bribri Tribe of Costa Rica.
I worked twenty years in politics and government and basically got burned out, hence, I choose education as my new career. After working in the classing setting as a substitute teacher, bilingual teaching assistant and as an ESL teacher for adults for four years, I am convinced that this is the right career for me.
I bring with me a sincere desire, enthusiasm, and a respectful sense of humor to help our students discover their unique talents and help them strive towards their full potentials. Indeed, to be not only an educator, but, a mentor and an advocate for them.
I am a poet with over 200 poems published on the Internet; and a freelance writer with over 100 articles published in newspapers and magazines. My poetry e-books and individual poems are posted on www.scribd.com.
This Fall 2010, I will be enrolling in a 120 hours in classroom TESOL training in New York City.
Finally, I have taken and passed all the New York Teaching Certification Exams needed for my social studies certification. Listed below are the exams I have passed and the dates when they were taken:
Liberal Arts & Science 10/15/2005 - Pass
Social Studies CST 08/20/2005 - Pass

With this brief introduction, a humble heart filled with love and hope for our students, please consider me for a teaching position with your school or organization and hopefully you will like my personality, intellect, enthusiasm, and my sense of humor.
