So you're thinking of choosing an independent school? Well choosing on the type of education and school for your children is certainly a very important decision to make, one that takes plenty of time and research.
Pupils and students in school today are subject to teachers who are teaching in a regime of relentless change. The teachers are under great pressure to achieve targets and fill in all the tickboxes and paperwork that lies behind it. Teachers have lives too, and when they become overburdened then something has to give.
One aspect of the Internet that many people are still unsure about is it's trustworthiness, which is why many people are unsure about Internet tutoring services. Because we don't know who is behind the computer screen when we disclose personal information, we very often would rather not disclose it at all.
On the ESL forums one often sees teachers asking for ideas to make their one to one lessons more fun. Many teachers are brilliant in the classroom but are at a loss for ideas when it comes to teaching children English in private classes, and that is a shame because teaching one on one can be very rewarding, as well as often being a good source of extra income.
Looking into Home school programs is an option for some parents who feel public schools are wanting in good education and in safety. However many people wonder if home school youngsters are getting proper socialization and what are the disadvantages and payoffs of home schooling? Different than public-school kids, home school kids are not privy to a system of checks and balances that might smash their self-respect and their joy of learning.
Being a home tutor is an enjoyable experience which I would recommend to anyone who can make the grade. You are welcomed into homes as a valued guest, your knowledge is sought after and you are well-paid at the end of each lesson. Unfortunately it is not for everyone so here's a simple test to see if you have the 'right stuff' to become a tutor. Please note that a tutor does not necessarily need to be or have been a teacher.
