Business Studies / English Teacher 2009 - 2010
Dipont Education Center
Chengdu Shi Shi High School
I am currently teaching Cambridge “A†Level Business Studies to students at Shi Shi High School in Chengdu, Sichuan. I also teach English to the students to prepare them for their I.E.L.T.S., T.O.E.F.L., and S.A.T. exams.
Guangdong LiGong University 2008 - 2009
I taught Business English, both speaking and writing courses, at Guangdong LiGong in Zhongshan, Guangdong. In this position I focused on grammar, structure and coherence to enable the students to be understood quickly, easily, and accurately in both spoken and written English.
Premier English Training, Haikou 2008
Executive English Trainer in Haikou, Hainan where I provided customer service based English training the flight staff for Hainan Airlines. Also a large part of my job was preparing university students to achieve a band 5 or higher on the IELTS exam allowing them to further their studies abroad.
ClarkMorgan Corporate Training, Beijing 2007
In this position of Corporate Trainer for ClarkMorgan I trained high level executives working for such companies as Microsoft, Emerson, McKinsey Consulting and Sony in one on one and / or small group settings. I also provided training to larger groups through 1 and / or 2 full day seminars that focused on communication and soft skills training. In addition to my external training role I was also responsible for the training and management of the inside sales staff in the Beijing office.
Heilongjiang University, Haerbin 2005 – 2007
I was employed as an IELTS English Professor by Heilongjiang University in Haerbin, China. I was responsible for teaching students Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening to prepare them for the International English Language Testing System. The students must achieve a level of Band 7 on the exam in order to study abroad in an English Speaking Country.
This job offered me the kinds of challenges and responsibilities that I truly enjoy from teaching. The student’s entire educational future rides on their ability to achieve a minimum score of Band 7, which is not an easy thing to accomplish. A fluent, native English speaker is considered to be a Band 9 so I am sure that you can appreciate how difficult obtaining a Band 7 can be for these students since none of them are English majors, most of the students are majoring in Business Administration. This being said, I helped many students reach their goal and seen them off to live out their dream of furthering their studies in England, Australia and Canada just to name a few countries. I can say without hesitation that this the most rewarding job that I have had during my three years in China.
Harbin Institute of Science and Technology, Harbin 2004 - 2005
While working for the Harbin University of Science and Technology I taught speaking and reading classes to English majors. I was also responsible for helping to prepare these students to take the CET exams.
Various Private Schools , China 2004 - Present
During my time in China I have taught at many Private English Schools on a part time and/or summer camp basis. Some of these schools were Modern English, New Oriental, E.F. and many other well known schools. At these schools I have taught all ages from Kindergarten to Post Graduate students. I have the unique ability to teach any age group or English at a very high level.
